Birmingham City will discover their fixture list for the upcoming League One campaign on Wednesday, June 26.

Blues will be playing in the third tier for the first time in 29 years after being relegated from the Championship on the final day of the season. A victory over Norwich City wasn’t enough for Blues due to Plymouth Argyle’s 1-0 win over Hull City.

The League One season begins on the same weekend as the Championship and Sky Sports are staging more EFL games than ever before. Blues’ season will begin on the weekend of August 10/11, although it’s likely that one League One game will be moved to Friday, August 9.

The EFL announced on Wednesday that fixture release day is June 26 this year, which is around the time pre-season training begins for most clubs.

Blues fans have lots of new grounds to visit in League One and the club have already been installed as favourites for promotion. Fellow relegated clubs Huddersfield Town and Rotherham United – now under the management of Steve Evans – will be expected to challenge, too.

Hollywood-backed Wrexham are another team to watch after their back-to-back promotions from the National League to League One. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Blues’ meetings with Wrexham are selected by Sky Sports.

Here are the dates you need to be aware of…

Fixture release day - Wednesday, June 26 (9am)

Opening weekend - August 10/11

Closing weekend - May 3

The play-off finals will take place over the 2025 May Bank Holiday weekend (24-26 May).

The first round of the Carabao Cup will be played in mid-August.

The group stage of the Bristol Street Motors Trophy will commence at the beginning of September.
