Plymouth Argyle will start their search for a new head coach next week after securing their Championship status.

The Pilgrims beat Hull City 1-0 on the final day of the season to avoid relegation under the interim leadership of Neil Dewsnip and Kevin Nancekivell.

Argyle sacked Ian Foster last month after a run of eight losses in 11 games.

"We've had lots of applications and that process will start on Tuesday," director of football Dewsnip told BBC Sport.

"I don't know the list, but I'm intrigued to know who's on the list.

"They've kept it well away from me and Nance because we've been busy working with the team.

"We'll need to make some signings of course, contracts - one or two need renewing - so there's a lot of big issues to do."

Foster was the shortest-serving permanent boss in the club's history after being sacked less than four months after taking over.

The former England youth coach - who has been Steven Gerrard's assistant at Saudi side Al Ettifaq - succeeded Steven Schumacher who left to join Stoke City in December.

"We want to make sure that we get the right appointment, so we'll be as quick as we can, but equally, we're not going to rush into something too quickly," Dewsnip said.

"I don't think there's as many on the list, currently, as were on the list last time, but I suspect that's because people were waiting to see which league we're in - that would make sense.

"So I suspect people are already sending their CVs into the club."
